Affordable IT Support for Home Users
Issue Resolution or 'Break Fixing'
The most common need - the machine is not doing what it should be doing....or when it should be doing it.

Diagnostic methodology is a skill, not a 'learn by rote' ability. This troubleshooting ability is the measure of a good engineer and for the geek, it's the fun part of the job.  It must also be coupled with honesty.  Sometimes a fix is relatively simple, but just not obvious to the user.

Our attitude is: if a machine is working well, we will not tell you it isn't - and vice versa.  Pure and simple.  Also, when looking at a dead or dying machine, we will not advise you to spend money needlessly on resurrecting it if it's uneconomical. We find the answer first and then give you the best advice on how to proceed.

IT@Home are unique as we have strong experience with both PC and MAC hardware and operating systems.

  • How do I watch the video clips that I downloaded (to my computer) on my television?

Backups and Restoration
What is currently being backed up?  What NEEDS to be backed up?  Do you HAVE a backup?

Basically,  we can discuss what will you need back if your hard drive gives up and where we can store it in the mean time.  The backup can be automated or run on an ad hoc basis (or both) - whatever suits your computing style.  More importantly, it will be set up so that things are easy to get back when it all goes wrong.

A wise person once said "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure" and it is much easier to get information back from a backup than it is from a failed hard drive. There are a few easy and very low cost options for a backup solution.  Which one is suitable for your needs will be dependent on how much information there is to store and how it is likely to grow over time.

Allow IT@Home to come up with a peace of mind solution for you - you won't regret it.
Planning Ahead
  • How much hard drive space do I have left and how much will I need in the future?
  • Is my flash drive / external backup hard drive going to be big enough?
  • I have two PCs, two smartphones, an iPad and a TV that need to access all these files on this laptop that I sometimes take out with me.  What's the best idea to make this work?
Also think about:
  • How many wired and wireless devices are on your network now?
  • How quickly is this likely to change?
These questions (and others) can be discussed and answered to ensure you get what you need from your computer or network - now and in the foreseeable future.
